Currently serving as a member of Show Committee.
Sheryl is a retired educator (after 22 years as teacher, principal) who grew up in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School in 1974. She has a Bachelor of Thanatology (the study of Death and Dying), a Master of Health Education, and a second Master in Education – Administration and Supervision. In high school she was very active in art, drama, and speech and was a state champion in Oral Interpretation in 1974. She taught college classes at Idaho State University and then grades K through 10. She was a school administrator at all three levels of public schools working mostly on or around the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and Utah.
Growing up, Sheryl was very interested and involved in drawing, painting, and crafts, but during her career in education poured all of her creativity into teaching – no time for hobbies. For many years she scheduled her summer vacations around the ACF Summer Show to help her Mom (Beverly Schmeeckle) starting when Bev was on Show Committee and even helped mark spaces on the Courthouse lawn. She joined ACF in January 2019 but started attending meetings in July 2018 after retiring. She has served as Recording Secretary (2 years) and was on Show Committee for one year.
Currently Sheryl sews a variety of items from potholders to Christmas Stockings to Neck Pillows. She loves the variety of fabric that she has found locally. She continues to pursue her interests in a variety of crafts including painting, mosaics, crocheting, woodworking, jewelry, clay figurines, etc. She collects dragons, reads a lot (primarily Science Fiction/Fantasy/Paranormal), and enjoys shopping. She lives in Evergreen with her two fur-babies, Pixie, a toy poodle mix and Jasper, a mini-schnauzer.
